Spam Mitigation at U.Va.

To mitigate the flow of spam email messages to your email account at the University of Virginia, you may choose to subscribe to:

• The spam tagging service is for those who receive email on the Central Mail Service (CMS). Messages sent to the CMS are sent to addresses similar to mst3k@m.mail.virginia.edu or mst3k@cms.mail.virginia.edu.
  
  - and / or -
  
  
• The greylisting service is for messages: sent from non-University of Virginia email servers to:
  • the CMS (messages sent to addresses similar to mst3k@m.mail.virginia.edu or mst3k@cms.mail.virginia.edu)
  • and the primary U.Va. email server (messages sent to registered email addresses similar to mst3k@Virginia.edu).

Use of either or both services may be enabled/disabled as you choose: the services are opt-in (and opt-out) by subscription via web sites.

The web addresses for spam tagging and greylisting are restricted so that to view the pages, you must be using a computer connected directly to the U.Va. network or using UVa-Anywhere:
