Checking for new messages
Mulberry checks for messages automatically every 10 minutes, although you can also check manually.
To check mail manually, click the Check button.
- If you have new mail, Mulberry adds the messages to your Inbox and displays a "new mail" alert. The alert can be modified or disabled.
- Click OK.
Reading a message
- In Mulberry, click Inbox in the Server pane.
- New (unseen) messages appear in bold, blue text in the Items pane and a new message icon appears on the mailbox tab.
- Click once the message you want to read to display it in the Preview pane.
Replying to a message
- In the Mulberry Items pane, click the message to which you want to respond.
- Click the Reply button.
- In Reply To window, select the intended recipients and whether you include the original message in your reply.
- Enter text of your response.
- Click the Send button.
Forwarding a message
- In the Mulberry Items pane, click the message you want to forward.
- Click the Forward button on the toolbar.
- In Forward Message window, click the Forward button.
- In To: field, type the email address(es) to receive the message.
- Edit the existing text or add more text to the message.
- Click Send.
Redirecting (or Bouncing) a nessage
- In the Mulberry Items pane, click the message you want to redirect (or bounce).
- Click Messages on the Menu bar.
- Click Bounce.
- In To: field, type the email address(es) to receive the message.
- Click Send.
Deleting a message
- In the Mulberry Items pane, click the message you want to delete.
- Click the Delete button.
Deleted messages will show in red, with a strikeout line through them. - To undelete a deleted message, click the message you want to undelete and then click the Undelete button.
- Click the Expunge button to remove the messages permanently. Expunged messages cannot be undeleted.
Moving or Copying a message
- In Mulberry, click Inbox in the Server pane.
- In the Inbox window in the Items pane, click a message you want to move or copy.
- Move the message using:
- Drag the highlighted message onto a folder in the Server window.
The moved message will show in the Inbox in red, with a strikeout line through it.
- Click the Expunge button to remove the message permanently.
- Drag the highlighted message onto a folder in the Server window.
- Copy the message using:
- Drag the highlighted message onto a folder in the Server window. The moved message will show in the Inbox in red, with a strikeout line through it.
- Click the Undelete button on the Menu bar.
The moved message will show in the Inbox without a strikeout line through it.
- Drag the highlighted message onto a folder in the Server window.
Composing a message
Tip: 4 Move between fields using the Tab key.
- In Mulberry, click the Draft button.
- In To: field, type the email address(es) to receive the message.
- To include an email address in the Cc (carbon copy) or Bcc (blind carbon copy) fields:
- Click Add Cc: and/or Add Bcc: button(s).
- Type the email address(es) into these fields.
- Move between fields using the Tab key.
- In the Subject: field, type the subject of your message.
- Type the text of your message.
- Click the Send button.
Tip: Multiple addresses in the To, Cc and Bcc fields must be separated by commas.
If you have enabled LDAP, when you type a name or email address into the To:, Cc:, and Bcc: fields, Mulberry will expand it against the LDAP listing of all UVa users. If you have your personal address books set for auto address expansion, at the same time the LDAP expansion is taking place, addresses in a To:, Cc:, or Bcc: will also expand against these entries.
Searching for a message
- In Mulberry, click Inbox (or another folder you want to search) in the Server pane
- Cick the Search button.
- Select the field/area of search.
- Select the matching criteria.
- Enter the text for which you want to search.
- Click the Add button to search more than one folder.
- Click the Search button in the Message Search window.
Results will appear in your Mailbox pane.
Disable the seach and see all messages by clicking the Match button.
